spring break

We usually go see friends for spring break, but couldn't this year.  So, we made our own fun at home.  To not have gone on "vacation", we are all T.I.R.E.D.!!!  I have made a conscious effort to ignore the laundry this week and just have fun with the boys. I'm paying for it now, but it was so, so worth it.  We made some fun memories this week.  The weather on spring break is usually pretty yucky, but this week has been beautiful...makes me long for summer.  We have played our little hearts out outside...riding our cicles (what Grey calls his tricycle), played soccer, gone on lots of walks, and played lots of tic-tac-toe with the sidewalk chalk.  While Grey napped one day, Parker and I sat outside and read.  That didn't last long. :)  He wanted to know if the house across the street had more bricks or roof "tiles."  That's a good question, and one I didn't have an answer for. :)  Then he wanted to know why all the men bricking the house across the street were mesican...and why was their skin so brown...he decided that I must not have that much mesican in me because my skin isn't very brown and JT must have lots of mesican in him... :)

My aunt Rosalie is here visiting from California for a couple of weeks.  She's always, always been my favorite.  The boys LOVE her so much.  They call her Tweety...that's what her grandbabies call her.  Parker told me he was so glad that she's here because she's his favorite lady to wrestle with. :)

The Discovery Center just opened up a dinosaur exhibit.  It's small, but really neat!  The dinosaurs lock eyes with you somehow and follow your movements.  Grey was really NOT sure what to think about them and was glad to get on to the other side!

This makes me laugh!  It looks like T-Rex is sniffing Tweety's hair! :)

Parker and Grey doing what they do best!  Wrestling, falling, punching, and crawling...

On St. Patrick's Day, we met our sweet friends Liz and baby Mary at the zoo for Mary's first outing!   The boys had a really great time and Grey was so, so good!  I barely had to chase him down at all. :)

After the zoo, we came home and while Grey napped, Parker and I made rainbow cupcakes "together."  It was a definite labor of love and will most likely be the last time that rainbow cupcakes are made in my kitchen.  But, they turned out cute and tasty and the boys have loved them.

Every break, I have all these visions of baking new things that I'm just not up to during the regular school year.  I never get everything done that I want to, but over Christmas, I made The Pioneer Woman's cinnamon rolls for gifts...yum!  I felt soooooo accomplished!  I'm counting the cupcakes for spring break.  I made "that's the best frosting I've ever had" from PW's blog to go with them.  So good, and I've found my go to frosting recipe...yay!

After the baking, we met some friends at the park for a couple of hours.  It was in the mid-80's that day...the boys were in bed EARLY that night and I was too!  We also met some friends at the "big slide" at PBC.  Last time, Grey wouldn't even get on and this time he climbed up the rainbow steps and bumped his way down.  :)
